Am i worthy to partake of the bread and the wine?
by TimothyT ini need to ask a serious bible based question regarding the bread and the wine that jesus passed around on the night of the passover.. i understand perfectly what these mean, and i understand their relevance, however im struggling to understand, after 15 years of indoctrination, if i am deserving to partake of them.
today at the baptist church, we were all offered the bread and the wine.
i wanted to partake but i still feel that i do not have the right to, as i am not of the chosen nation.

Read the account of the last supper in Luke. The new covenant was not only with an "Annointed Class". What does it say at Luke 22:21, and why does this one simple scripture completely destroy the misinterpretation of the Watchtower?

"What do the publishers and poineers get out of the deal?"
A ticket to a magical paradise.
You know what always blew my mind, was that before the tax laws were changed in 1990, JW's used to have to buy all their Watchtower merchandise. And they then had to go door to door selling Watchtower merchandise in order to "earn" their eternal salvation. Seriously, people couldn't see that con for what it was?

I think that it can be a mistake to get so hung up on what Jesus "really said". These quotes from Jesus were written decades after he lived, and they were written in a different language than the language he actually spoke. Honest question, do you think that these quotes in the Gospels are word for word exactly what Jesus said? I do think it's really a good idea to compare what Jesus taught in comparison to Paul. Side by side comparison, will show how different their worldview was. Should a Christian follow the teachings of Christ or Paul? Could Jesus's warnings about being misled be applied to Paul, why not. He came after Jesus and claimed he was somehow "channeling" Jesus. Isn't that exactly what the Governing Body claims?

Delineating the shameful story of the Jehovah's Witnesses failed apocalypse saga
by mankkeli inone of the most firmly established new religious movements which bases its mission on apocalyptic predictions is jehovahs witnesses.
jehovahs witnesses believe that we are living in a harvest period, the end days of the present world, and should dramatically change our lives accordingly.. the movement can be traced to the 1830s, when a baptist leader named william miller announced that the bible is full of secret numerical clues.
according to his interpretation of scriptural passages, he wrote of his prediction that christ would return to earth some time between march 21, 1843 and march 21, 1844. an estimated 100,000 people accepted his message and formed an informal network to anticipate the second coming, often leaving their mainstream christain churches in the process.

Welcome to the forum BibleResearcher. "As a JW we do not believe you have to be a JW to be saved,"
I have to respectfully disagree with this statement. The Governing Body most certainly does teach that you have to be a JW in order to be saved. How long have you been one of Jehovah's Witnesses? Because I'm suprised that you don't know such a core belief.

Hasn't the Watchtower also printed info that some of the Anointed might be mentally ill?

But, isn't it a "Wicked System of Things?"
by PenelopePaige ini am not a jw but one thing that they really get me on is when they call the outside world a "wicked system of things" and say it is run by the devil.
i know the world can be great and people can be wonderful but on the flip side, the bad seems to be getting worse and morals seem to be flying out the window.
i don't know, what do you guys think?

So what do ya'll think about the recent new light?
by stillin9 inyou know, the thing they were talking about in the 2011 dc.
it was about how the "toes" of daniel's image no longer represent all the individual governments that have come around in human history.
and that the anglo-american world power is the last world power we'll see before the end of the system of things.

The new light that comes to the watchtower should not just come from the governing body members. The anointed remnant are supposed to contribute to any new understandings.
I certainly understand why you would believe this. The real problem is that Watchtower Doctrine contradicts itself. There are currently seven members on the Governing Body, and in 2010 there were 11,202 memorial partakers or members of the "Faithfull Slave". By the Watchtowers own recent admission they do not consult other members of the "Slave", and they don't even keep track of who they are. The Anointed who aren't part of the Governing Body have no special teaching roles within the congregations and are not dispensing spiritual food in fulfillment of Matthew 24:45. So if you do the math, you realize that over 99.9% of the members of the "Slave Class" alive on Earth are not fullfiling Matthew 24:45.
